Yang is a 9 month old Yorkie, who presented as an emergency in an acute hepatic encephalopathic crisis. He responded very well to lactulose enemas and we diagnosed a PSS or a Portosystemic shunt case. Operating would potentially avoid a lifetime of medications. While there are risks involved with undertaking surgery (potentially life threatening), if there are no complications then little Yang’s prognosis is very good.
He ended up going through to have surgery, and pulled through- looking as cute as ever. Thank you everyone for your contributions!
